A Historic Venue with a Noble Legacy
Located on the historic slopes where the noble Odescalchi family first planted the famous Ilok Traminac vines, Principovac will once again host wine lovers from across Croatia and neighboring countries. The festival will showcase a rich selection of wines from Slavonia and Croatian Danube regions, alongside handpicked varieties from nearby winemaking nations, offering a true cross-border experience of Central Europe’s wine heritage.
One of the most exciting features of this year’s program is the creative fusion of wine and gastronomy. Guests will have the chance to taste wine-based cocktails, from the fresh and fruity Graševina to the deep, bold Merlot, paired with Thai specialties prepared by the acclaimed At Bangkok Thai Restaurant from Zadar. This bold combination of local wines and Asian cuisine aims to surprise and delight even the most experienced palates.
According to Tomislav Panenić, president of Graševina Croatica, the regional association of winemakers from Slavonia and the Croatian Danube area, the goal is to present wine culture in a new and inspiring light. “With this approach, we want to encourage fresh perspectives on the wine culture of Slavonia and the Danube region, and show how dynamic, open, and ready for innovation it truly is,” Panenić explained. Graševina Croatica organizes the event in cooperation with the Tourist Board of Vukovar-Srijem County.
Music, Fire, and a Night Under the Stars
Beyond the exquisite wine and food offerings, visitors can look forward to a vibrant evening program filled with music and performance. DJ AndyBoy will provide energetic beats throughout the night, while the Twin Flame art collective will captivate audiences with a fiery dance performance that embodies passion, movement, and light—perfectly complementing the atmosphere of celebration under the open sky.
“The combination of wine, gastronomy, and cultural and natural heritage forms a strong foundation for the tourism offer of Srijem and Slavonia,” said Majda Jakša, director of the Vukovar-Srijem County Tourist Board. “Events like the Dunav Wine Festival help us showcase these values and connect them with memorable experiences for both domestic and international guests. Together with Graševina Croatica, we are proud to promote authenticity and demonstrate that our local story truly has global potential.”
Admission to the Dunav Wine Festival is free of charge, and tastings are open to all visitors. Whether you are a wine connoisseur, a curious traveler, or simply looking for a night of good music and great company, Ilok’s most elegant estate invites you to raise a glass to the beauty of the Danube, and to the spirit of discovery that flows through every bottle.
