Delicate, romantic, and unmistakably personal—PERLET hairpieces are more than accessories; they’re heirlooms in the making. Handcrafted with crystals, freshwater pearls, silk, and sculpted floral elements, each piece carries the quiet magic of a wedding day, woven with care and intention. At the heart of it all is Greta Miloš, the founder and artist behind the brand, who turned a personal need into a thriving business rooted in beauty, craftsmanship, and emotion. In this interview, she shares the story of how PERLET came to life, and what continues to inspire her nearly a decade on.

Let’s start from the beginning—how did the idea for PERLET come about?
People often ask how I came up with the idea to launch PERLET and start creating bridal hair accessories, especially since they were once offered as a free add-on with a wedding dress. But the truth is, brides would often reject those “bonus” pieces—they simply didn’t meet the quality or style they were looking for. That was exactly my experience. When I was preparing for my own wedding back in 2012, I searched everywhere for a hairpiece that would match the elegance of my dress… and came up short. At the time, options in Croatia were extremely limited—jewelry designers focused on everything except bridal hair adornments.
Because I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit (which I inherited from my parents), I recognized a clear gap in the market. I knew this was the moment to create something meaningful and new. PERLET was actually my second business venture, but this time, I approached it differently—I didn’t just want a good idea. I wanted something that fulfilled me. Nearly 10 years later, I’m still here, doing what I love every day. It was the best business decision I’ve ever made.
What inspired you to create these kinds of unique hairpieces in particular?
I’ve always been creative—drawing, sewing, making things by hand ever since I was a child. Even while I was studying economics, I constantly found myself crafting on the side. As graduation approached, I had to choose a direction. Starting my own business felt risky, and honestly, most people thought I was a little crazy. But I figured, Why not try? If it doesn’t work, I can always get a job. That leap of faith led to PERLET, and here we are.
The name “PERLET” is quite distinctive. Does it have a special meaning or story behind it?
Actually, it came about quite playfully! I wanted something that referenced pearls, since they’re such a core material in my work. PERLET just happened naturally as a wordplay—simple, elegant, and tied to what I do.
PERLET pieces are known for their craftsmanship and artistry. Can you walk us through what goes into making one?
Absolutely. Every piece is made using high-quality materials—Swarovski crystals, freshwater pearls, hand-glazed ceramic, silk, brass, glass beads, even gilded clips. There’s this misconception that we just assemble ready-made parts, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.
The process is incredibly detailed and can stretch over several days. Brides are often surprised when they hear what goes into their piece—each one is braided, shaped, painted, and finished entirely by hand. Every tiny element you see is handcrafted.
Some pieces can take up to three full days to complete, especially with stages like painting and drying, which require a lot of time and patience. My greatest inspiration comes from nature—it’s full of vibrant colors and textures that spark endless ideas.
You use very specific materials—crystals, river pearls, floral elements. Why those?
Because they last. I don’t use plastic or base metals—only brass, ceramics, Swarovski crystals, Preciosa and Serenity pearls. These are the kinds of materials that can endure. I want every piece of PERLET jewelry to be something that lasts well beyond the wedding day. Something you could even pass down.
In a world dominated by industrial production, how important is handcraft to you?
It means everything. Handcraft allows me to express myself creatively, to pour emotion into the work. And I think brides feel that, too. For such a meaningful day in their lives, they gravitate toward details that feel personal, not mass-produced.
PERLET has become almost synonymous with weddings. What does it feel like knowing your pieces are part of such a significant moment in someone’s life?
It’s a beautiful feeling—honestly, I still get emotional about it. Being trusted with that kind of moment, that memory… it gives me endless inspiration and motivation to keep creating. Every new wedding season, I want to make something even more special.
