A Celebration of Croatia’s Allure
Croatia was voted the second most desirable European country, while the Croatian islands claimed fourth place among Europe’s most desirable island destinations. The star of the evening was undoubtedly Dubrovnik, which won the title of the second most desirable European city as well as a Special Award for Sustainable Tourism.
Equally impressive were the results for the Dubrovnik-Neretva County and Istria, which took sixth and seventh place, respectively, in the category of Europe’s most desirable regions. These achievements once again confirm the exceptional diversity, beauty, and lasting appeal of Croatia’s coastal and continental destinations, places that continue to inspire travelers with their charm, culture, and authenticity.
The glamorous ceremony, hosted by well-known television presenter, adventurer, and author Simon Reeve, brought together leading figures from the global travel industry. Throughout the evening, Croatia was in the spotlight, reaffirming its status as one of the most dynamic and best-loved European destinations according to Wanderlust readers.
“Winning these awards represents exceptional recognition for Croatian tourism and confirms that Croatia continues to strengthen its reputation as one of Europe’s most desirable and high-quality destinations,” said Kristjan Staničić, Director of the Croatian National Tourist Board.
“We are especially pleased that British travelers have recognized not only the beauty of our coast and islands but also the efforts we invest in sustainability, preserving authenticity, and improving the quality of the overall experience. I congratulate all the awarded destinations and am confident that this recognition will serve as a strong incentive for all of us to continue promoting Croatia as a country of extraordinary natural beauty, rich culture, and warm hospitality,” he added.
The recognition at the Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards once again highlights Croatia’s growing influence in the world of travel. With its blend of stunning landscapes, cultural heritage, and genuine warmth, Croatia continues to win the hearts of visitors, not just as a holiday destination, but as a place that travelers long to return to again and again.
