Artmark Winter Auction 2023

The Winter Auction will bring together esteemed names from the Croatian art scene, showcasing an exceptional range of paintings, sculptures, and graphics. Leading the auction is Vlaho Bukovac with an impressive trio of late 19th-century paintings, among which the star of the evening is the absolute gem of Croatian visual art, the 1886 masterpiece "Far from Home." This remarkable piece was once part of Samson Fox's collection, a British collector and one of Bukovac's greatest patrons. Returning to Zagreb after a century, "Far from Home" is set for auction with an estimated value ranging between €100,000 and €200,000, making it the most valuable artwork by Vlaho Bukovac ever to be auctioned. Bukovac's presence at the exhibition doesn't stop there. Artmark will showcase two more of his works: the precious landscape of the surroundings of Paris titled "Road towards Paris (Fontainebleau)," estimated at €15,000 – €25,000, and the Study for Icarus also estimated at €15,000 – €25,000.

The auction will also feature luminaries of modern art such as Emanuel Vidović, presenting three pieces, including "Chioggia – Canale della Vena," painted in 1898, alongside works like Still Life with Statuette(€6,000 – €9,000) and Split Harbor (€3,000 – €4,000). Mate Celestina Medović will exhibit "Pelješac Landscape" (€10,000 – €15,000), Menci Clement Crnčić with a seascape - "The Painter's Villa in Novi Vinodolski" (€10,000 – €15,000), and a rare piece by Bela Čikoš Sesija, "Four Archangels," symbolist in theme, created around 1900, estimated at €8,000 – €14,000. Additionally, Ferdo Kovačević's artwork "Spring" is estimated at €1,500-€2,000.

Post-war art is vividly showcased by Edo Murtić's pieces like Eyes of Fear (€1,500-€2,000) and Between Two Cliffs (€10,000 – €15,000), along with Josip Vaništa's Fish (€1,500-€2,000) and Kaptol (€4,000-€5,000). This collection also features captivating works by Miroslav Šutej, Juraj Dobrović, and Đuro Seder.

Winter Selection

In the spirit of the holiday season, Artmark also presents a curated selection of jewelry and watches celebrating top-notch design, beauty, and technology. Among these remarkable creations are stunning pieces like the Cartier gold set, adorned with diamonds, turquoise, and amethysts – the Délices de Goa (priced between €12,000 and €16,000), the Van Cleef & Arpels Vintage Alhambra necklace in gold with turquoise accents (priced between €9,000 and €12,000), and a white gold ring embellished with over 90 diamonds (available for €4,000 to €5,000). These treasures share the stage with a Rolex Oyster Perpetual manual watch, starting at €5,000, a vintage Cartier Baignoire from 1990 offered at an initial price of €3,500, and an exclusive limited edition Hublot Big Bang women's wristwatch at an initial price of €5,000.

The exquisite artworks and jewelry will be available for public viewing at the exhibition in Artmark Gallery at J.J. Strossmayer Square 5 from 10 am to 8 pm till December 18th. Additionally, the exhibition is accessible online at www.artmark.hr.

Apart from the live event, the auction will also run concurrently online through the Artmark Live platform, enabling digital live bidding. Participants can easily create an account on www.artmark.hr to follow, bid, and acquire auctioned pieces. Through this platform, participants can live-stream each item on sale and maintain full control over the bidding process, placing higher offers and engaging in other aspects of the auction, almost as if they were physically present in the auction room.
